CHINKON – SPRING SUMMER 2020/2021
Slight reflection of a satin fabric dazzling in the middle of our photo shoot for our Spring Summer 20/21 collection. Our latest collection was inspired by the
Japanese culture and influenced by the ginkgo leaves. Chinkon itself mean “repose of souls” or “to calm one’s spirit” in Japanese, this word “Chinkon” we got from a research about ginkgo leaves meaning and function in Japanese culture.
Our main inspiration for this collection is Japanese
culture, we adapt the shape of kimono silhouette at the sleeve and turn it into
a layered one shoulder dress. This layered sleeve is also representing the
shape of ginkgo leaves. The other things that we adapt from the Japanese culture
is the “Obi”. Obi is a “belt” to tie or tighten the kimono. For this dress, obi
is turned into an asymmetrical panel on the skirt and the tie will be on the
side seam on the left side.
This “Chinkon” collection represent the balance between nature,
progress and soul between the world we have inherited and the world we make for
ourselves. What we trying to portray and pointed out from this collection is that
our collection is meant to calming and gives the “restful” situation of the one
who wear it. For this collection, we are targeting more mature target market which
is woman from 24 – 35 years old.
Since we still emphasizing that our brand is timeless and
wearable, for the colour palette we choose a neutral colour palette such as
dusty pink and white as the point on this dress. As we know, dusty pink represent
femininity, delicate, and softness which usually wearable in both night and day
event, outdoor or indoor activity.
For the fabrication, we choose a silky satin jacquard with ginkgo pattern for the main fabric to make the luxurious looks on the garment. This fabric also reflects lights which also gives the ‘expensive’ looks into the garment.
